Generating Reports with Farm Records

Farm records can and should be used for a whole lot more than historical reference. Why absorb a year of losses when your problem is evident only a few months in? Farm records make it easy to see problems in purchases, sales and/or overall production. Using farm software to track every aspect of your farm operations allows you to generate reports on a weekly, monthly, seasonal or annual basis. You can use spreadsheet tools to add and/or remove various fields to give you every possible perspective of your production and expenses and to target weak areas in your program.

Farm reports make it easy to see which fields have the best yield, which crops or products have the highest expenses and the lowest profit margin, and/or which of your livestock or horses are not showing or producing to their full potential. Sometimes seeing the big picture in numbers makes it easier to make smart and even necessary decisions that sentimentality or tradition have thus far prevented.

Generating reports also helps everyone involved to see the strengths and weaknesses of your farm operations. Sometimes you need hard evidence to convince employees or partners that something isn't working or alternately to convince potential investors that you're a worthy investment.
